Greetings and welcome to the UBC Chemistry Graduate Student Society (CGSS) webpage! The CGSS was developed to help make the chemistry graduate student experience a success, both academically and socially. The CGSS is the graduate student voice in the Chemistry Department with representation on departmental committees and UBC's Graduate Student Society (GSS). We welcome questions, concerns and suggestions from any graduate student. We focus on the issues that are relevant to graduate students and often act as the liaison between graduate students and other members of the Chemistry Department.

The CGSS strives to foster cooperation and interaction among chemistry graduate students and between students, faculty and staff in the department. We host a variety of social events throughout the year, such as stressbusters, movie nights, scavenger hunts, BBQs and many more. Some of our larger events include the Welcome BBQ and Poster Session (September), the Annual Holiday Skits and Departmental Luncheon (December), and Valentine's Day Candy-Grams (February). We also organize several bake sales to raise money for charity each year.

We encourage all chemistry graduate students to get involved by participating in our events and even joining our council. We strongly believe that grad school should be fun!
